  1. Cry a lot. Collect your teardrops.
  2. Boil the lacrimal, or tear fluid until salt grains start to form at the bottom.
  3. Pour the supersaturated fluid into a clean glass container.
  4. Dip a piece of cotton string into the fluid, hanging the string from a stick resting on top of the container.
  5. Place the container in a shaded, cool place. Protect it from vibrations.
  6. A crystal will slowly grow around the string.
