The Things is a short story written by Peter Watts. The present recording is read by Scott Myers, Head of Downstream Processing and Quality Control at Golgi Membranes.

The story is a first person narrative told from the vantage point of ‘the thing’, against whom a group of humans are struggling for survival in an isolated winter encampment in Antarctica. The story is a retelling of John W. Campbell’s story “Who Goes There?”. It was filmed twice, firstly as The Thing from Another World (Christian Nyby, 1951) and secondly as The Thing (John Carpenter, 1982).
